On communication

Have you ever started a conversation, expecting a simple dialogue, then found yourself in an argument, defending yourself or reeling from an insult or criticsm? The following quotation gives some great insight into what could be happening.

"How you hear what someone says is determined by your interpretations, and your interpretations flow from your past. This is very important to know, especially if you find that you overreact to what others say or habitually get your feelings hurt. . . . Remember, what someone said is not necessarily what you heard, and what you heard is not necessarily what they meant." ~ Layne and Paul Cutright, Straight From the Heart

The Law of Attraction

I've just finished reading Michael J Losier's book, "Law of Attraction" for the second time. It is so good!

The subtitle of this book is "The Science of Attracting more of what you want and less of what you don't want" - which sums it up nicely!

The theory is that you get more of what you pay attention to - so beware of the things you keep complaining about, and your negative self talk! Michael Losier provides an easy three step formula for identifying what you want and then attracting it. There are some interesting chapters on how to use language in a different, more poweful way, some worksheets to help you apply the process and case studies to illustrate clearly how the Law of Attraction works.

I enjoyed Michael's clear writing style and can highly recommend this book.

Does it work? Just using the exercise to get clear on what you actually want in your life would be a highly valuable thing to do for most people. And, well, if you are reading this prior to contacting me and you fit the profile of my ideal client............
